welcome to forage box

We believe that wild and foraged food is tastier, healthier and better for the planet than food bought in the supermarket. Plus, time spent foraging is great for your mental and physical health... and it’s good fun too!

Our mission is to reconnect people with nature through what they eat, whether that is treating themselves to one of our small-batch products, enjoying a meal made from freshly-picked, wild produce or getting out there themselves on one of our foraging workshops.

Our motto: Always Wild, Always Sustainable, Always Delicious is something we stand by and we want foraging to be recognised as a better way of sourcing our food.

Fab experience

Fab experience, guide was informative, relatable and would love to come back to experience other workshops at different times of year. Guidance on the legality and etiquette of foraging was helpful too.

Good professional workshop

Good professional workshop taking a common sense approach that equipped us to adopt an intelligent attitude to foraging. As good introduction that left us eager to expand our knowledge through other workshops.

Thoroughly engaging

Thoroughly engaging, so much knowledge! Bought as a gift for my Dad would highly recommend! I would definitely book more with foragebox!

A brilliant day out

This introduction to foraging exceeded all of our expectations. Jim was extremely knowledgeable and soon allayed our fears that we’d eat the ‘wrong’ type of mushroom with very clear health and safety instructions. He coupled his vast knowledge with a great sense of humour and he’d earned the the group’s respect and trust immediately. We had a brilliant time sourcing mushrooms, eating sorrel, mulberries, nettles plus a host of other delicious offerings from the wayside.

Great experience - definitely recommend!

My girlfriend bought us tickets to the introduction to foraging workshop at chorlton water park. I’ve always been interested in foraging but the most I’ve done is pick wild garlic. The session went on for 4 hours and we found so many different mushrooms, berries and plants. Jim was really knowledgable and passionate about foraging and what you can do with the things you find. He was happy to answer questions and made the experience really enjoyable and fun.

Amazing!

I've always been interested in foraging so booked a session and wow! Was fantastic start to finish, was extremely informative and such beautiful surroundings. We were also educated about balsam so extra learning. I'm definitely booking again.

Excellent atmospheric location in a…

Excellent atmospheric location in a woodland encampment. A good beginners guide to some common edible plants & the opportunity to cook up a feast - after you'd foraged the ingredients, made the fire and butchered a squirrel first! Practical, exhilarating & enjoyable.

Inspiring, fun and educational

Absolutely adore the work that The ForageBox are doing <3 I've been on two of their forage walks now (autumn and spring taster sessions) and I have on both occasions learned so much about wild food, had such a fun time, and left feeling inspired and confident to continue my own foraging journey. Looking forward to the coastal forage that I've booked to delve into the world of sea plants. I would 100% recommend anyone to book a session for a lovely, educational day out.

Ellie's knowledge is incredible!

Ellie's knowledge is incredible! She introduced us to a wide range of edibles that we would ordinarily walk right past at the side of the track. She brought samples of syrups and infusions for us to try which put foraging into a better context - like a "this is what you can make!" rather than just a "this is edible". You get a follow-up email listing all the things found on your trip too so you can go back and look things up before heading out yourself. A really enjoyable...

Best way to reconnect with nature.

The foraging workshop with Jim was absolutely brilliant! It's an amazing experience walking through the forest, finding plants that you recognise but didn't know were edible. Jim is very knowledgeable and so easy to listen to, he's a funny guy and we had a laugh. We came away wanting to go it all again, so we're already looking into other workshops to attend soon. You have to go yourselves, you'll have a great time.

Salmon & Sea Spinach Ossetian Pie
I decided to use salmon to go with the sea salty flavour of the sea spinach. I also replaced the dough with a much easier version to keep things simple! We had this for lunch with a baby leaf salad and even my kids wolfed it down!
